The initial information we ask you for will help us determine the back ground behind your reason for coming to see us. We need these details to help us work out how best to help you and it is our aim to help anyone, with any hair type, suffering with hair disorders and hair loss, the following issues that we will cover and all are potential factors and causes:

• Previous illnesses
• Medications
• Childbirth
• Breastfeeding
• Diet
• Stress
• Family
• General health history
• Hair regime

There may be other subjects that we discuss as a result of your consultation but this gives you an idea of the things we will need to talk about while you are with us.

Through a mix of discussion and physical examination of the hair and scalp and after gathering a few hairs for a microscope examination where required, we will be able to determine the condition and growth phase the hair was in when shed. This will be the start of our journey together to help you overcome the issues associated with hair loss and scalp disorders.

Once a cause is established Mrs Hutton MIT will decide if:

A home treatment plan with regular re-assessment to check progress and aid long term management would be beneficial.

A referral to a medical doctor for further evaluation and possible medication for example hormonal imbalances hypo or hyperthyroid, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, diabetes, anaemia, kidney or liver problems, poisoning from pesticides, lead, etc is needed.

Advice on surgical procedures or cosmetic camouflage in the form of wigs, etc would be of use.
